SSKI AUTUMN COURSE

The above course was a huge success and well attended.  The instructors on this course were; Sensei Malcolm Phipps 9th Dan, Sensei Tony Bunting 8th Dan and Sensei Jeff Carson 6th Dan.

The course content included, kata, kumite drills and pad work and everyone worked hard for the three hours and the dojo was buzzing. Before the course actually started, Sensei Malcolm Phipps awarded Sensei Tony Bunting with his Hachidan (8th Dan). A grade truly well deserved as the Assistant Chief Instructor to SSKI. Sadly, the main Japanese certificate did not arrive on time but Sensei Tony was awarded an SSKI certificate on the day with the Japanese certificate to follow. Also, a Sandan (3rd Dan) award was given to Sensei Siva Niranjan, who sadly could not actually take the grading exam as he has had Parkinson’s diseace for a few years now but still trains regularly, week in, week out and had been a 2nd Dan for many years.  He is a credit to his instructor, his club and association and to Shotokan Karate in general.

Well done and many congratulations to both the above.
