Before a Kumite official's examination can be attempted the following criteria will apply:
Candidate must be over 21.
Minimum of Sho Dan.
Must have attended one referee course.
In order to gain an S.S.K.I qualification they must:
Pass the theory paper with a minimum score of 75% for Judge, 90% for Referee (62 questions with 168 marks).
Provisional qualifications will be awarded based on the assessments made at the training course.
Ratification of any provisional S.S.K.I qualification will be made at either the S.S.K.I Nationals, Shotokan Shield or SE Regionals.
Once a qualification has been achieved the official must attend the minimum of one training course and officiate at one S.S.K.I internal Championship per year.
On reaching B Grade Judge, S.S.K.I officials will be monitored for one year before they are allowed to attempt A Grade Judge or Referee qualification.
The examination paper must be completed satisfactorily once every two years, unless qualified as an England , European or World level official (ETKB, EKGB, WKF, WTKO).
Should an official fall below the required standard they will be asked to re-qualify.
Consideration for attempting International qualification may be considered after a minimum of three years as Referee, at the Chief Referee's discretion.
