Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International

Global Martial Arts Hall of Fame

On Saturday 4th August 2007, at a formal banquet, held at the Omni Severin Hotel in Indianapolis, USA, Sensei Malcolm Phipps 7th Dan and Chief Instructor to Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International worldwide, was inducted into the Global Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Only five people received this prestigious title, with many not meeting the stringent requirements regarding this award. The inductees had to prove that they had dedicated themselves to the growth of the martial arts internationally. One person that was inducted along with Sensei Phipps was USA‘s Sensei Tokey Hill, the 1980 WUKO/WKF -80K World Kumite Champion, who many may remember from their competition days in that era. Sensei Hill invited Sensei Phipps to bring a team to Columbus, Ohio in February/March 2008 to the prestigious Arnold Schwarzenegger 2008 Sports Festival, which Sensei Phipps agreed.

This is an annual event, which Arnold Schwarzenegger actually attends on one of the days. Not only is there karate and many other martial arts competitions and demonstrations but Boxing and Bodybuilding competitions, Archery, Arm Wrestling, Cheerleading and Dance, Fencing, Figure and Speed Skating, Fitness Shows, Gymnastics, Strongman Contest, Sumo Demonstrations, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
